6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. The students will begin with a selected writing prompt. (about 15 minutes)
2. The writing prompts will be indicated for each student on an index card with the criteria for the assignment.
3. Staff will be able to float around the room to assist students as needed.
4. The students will be asked to turn in their writing journals, as the staff pass out the books for Robin Hood.
5. Staff will review the plan for the remainder of the period, identifying expectations in the learning environment during the lesson, and the order of events.
 

B. Development-

1. We will begin with a review of the vocabulary from the first chapter, and introduce new vocabulary for the chapter being read during this lesson.
2. Staff will access prior knowledge from the previous chapter before beginning the next chapter.
 

C. Practice-

1. The students will open their books to page 14 and read the name of the story.
2. The class will look at the picture on pg.14 and make predictions of what this sections may be about based on the picture and the title.
3. The teacher will read the sentence below the picture.
4. The class will read the first three paragraphs of the story to obtain the main idea of this chapter.
5. The class will answer a preview question relating to the main idea.
6. The class will read the story on pg.15 about Little John joining Robin's band of merry men.
7. After the chapter is read the students will participate in a Jeopardy Review Game. This will review the first and second chapters of the story.
 

D. Independent Practice-

See closure below.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

The class will participate in a Jeopardy Review Game using the Promethean Board (interactive smart board).

The students will each write a summary of the chapter(s) covered during today's lesson.

2. Feedback from Principal's Observation and Teaching Assistant.
