Plain paper
Triangle cut out (paper "� represents attic)
Glue sticks
Colored pencils, crayons, and markers
Pipe cleaners
 
5. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. SHOW STUDENTS THE COVER OF THE BOOK (WITH MONSTER HIDDEN)

2. TEACH THEM ABOUT THE TITLE, AUTHOR , CHARACTERS, ILLUSTRATOR

3. HAVE STUDENTS TAKE ONE PIECE OF PLAIN WHITE PAPER AND ONE YELLOW TRIANGLE

4. SHOW STUDENTS HOW TO GLUE THE TRIANGLE ONTO THE PAPER SO THAT THE "DOOR"�
WILL OPEN TOWARDS THEM

5. AFTER ALL THE STUDENTS HAVE GLUED THEIR TRIANGLE "ATTIC"� ONTO THE PAPER,
HAVE THEM PREDICT WHAT THE LITTLE GIRL WILL FIND IN THE ATTIC AND DRAW IT IN
THE DOORWAY OF THEIR ATTIC
** MAKE SURE ALL STUDENTS KNOW WHAT PREDICT MEANS**

6. ASK FOR VOLUNTEERS TO SHARE WHAT THEY DREW
 

B. Development-

7. READ THE BOOK "THERE'S SOMETHING IN MY ATTIC"� BY MERCER MAYER

8. MAKE SURE TO POINT OUT CHARACTERS AS THEY APPEAR

9. ASK QUESTIONS TO ASSESS IF THEY WERE LISTENING AND UNDERSTOOD BOTH THE
STORY AND THE VOCABULARY WORDS THAT WERE INTRODUCED

10. HAVE EACH STUDENT TAKE A PIPECLEANER FROM THE STACK ON THEIR TABLE.

11. TALK TO STUDENTS ABOUT STORY BITS OR SOUVENIRS

12. SHOW THE STUDENTS HOW TO MAKE A LASSO WITH THE PIPECLEANER

13. NOW HAVE THE STUDENTS MAKE A LASSO WITH THEIR PIPECLEANER
