New Vocabulary for "William Shakespeare & the Globe"

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.To read the new vocabulary words correctly.
2.To define each new word correctly
3.To use each new vocabulary word correctly
 
4. Objectives-
1.When shown a new vocabulary word in isolation or in context my students will be able to read, define and use the new vocabulary words correctly in a sentence with at least 85% accuracy.
2.Students will create sentences using the new vocabulary words with 85% accuracy.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Vocabulary Cards, interactive board, computers writing materials, worksheets
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Students will be shown each word card and asked if they can read and define the words without help from the teacher or aide
2.Teacher will then use a ppt with the vocabulary words and their definitions
3.They will read spell and write each word
 

B. Development-

1.teacher will read and carefully pronounce each word
2.teacher will provide students with the correct definitions used in the story
3.students will be given sentences using the words correctly
 

C. Practice-

1.Teacher will read sentences using the new vocabulary words some used correctly some incorrectly and the students will be able to identify the words when used correctly
2.Students will write sentences using the words correctly with assistance and correction from the teacher and the assistant.
3.Students will use the new words correctly orally
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Students will write sentences of their own creation correctly to 85% accuracy.
2.Students will use online vocabulary practice exercises to develop better understanding of the words.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Students how need extra help will divide into small groups working 2 or 3 to one student to teacher.
2.Weaker students will be given extra help from assistant one on one
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Students will complete homework assignments with 85% accuracy.
2.Students will achieve at least 85% on a test of the new vocabulary
3.Students will be able to read each word correctly in the text.
 

G. Closure-

1.The students will divide into groups of two and create sentences with the new words orally correcting each others mistakes
