Story Book Characters
 
2. Content-
-read a story book that they may know and could be able to pick out the main character and could follow along with.
-do an art project that they can make their own story book character or one they like/ already know.
-play a game involving story book characters and let theme be a character
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. to let them have fun with different characters and stories
2. get them to us their imagination to create their own characters if they would like
3. to introduce characters that they may not know but would like if they knew
 
4. Objectives-
1. creativity from each child
2. have them do something that they can relate to
3. for theme to enjoy what they are doing and listen to their directions given
 
5. Materials and Aids-
- paper for each child
- paint,makers,crayons, glue,scissors
- their imaginations =)
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.pledge to the flag
2.the days of the week and months of the year songs
3. calendar and weather
4. introduce the story book character theme and ask a few questions
 

B. Development-

1. to use their imaginations
2. to be creative individuals
3. to get a feeling for wanting to read story books
 

C. Practice-

1. read the kids a story book
2. to give them a craft to do that relates the theme
3. to play a short game so they can have fun while learning
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. their art projects (let them work on them on their own unless they ask for help)
2. give them story books to look at during free play
3. let them get together and make up a game that involves story book characters
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

nothing needed here
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. ask questions through out the time with the children
2. let them have the chance to talk/ask questions
3. see if they can name their favorite story book character(s)
 

G. Closure-

1. let them listen to music
2. play a small game where they can be their favorite story book character
