story |
|
|
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
|
1.This lesson is designed to help the pupil decode words containing
the letter o when it is followed by a consonant and silent e.
|
|
|

|
1.. Given a list of words containing vowel sounds and four sets
of phonograms depicting the /o/, the pupil will auditory distinguish
/o/ in the initial and medial positions of paired words by saying
a key word and telling whether the beginning and medial sounds in
the words sound the same or different for four out of four sets.
2.Given four sets of phonograms depicting the /o/, the pupil will
visually distinguish the letters o consonant e pattern in the lists
of words by underlining the letters which are the same in all the
words.
3.Given a set of words, the pupil will distinguish the letters in
the o consonant e pattern using his tactile and kinesthetic senses
by tracing and copying the phonogram correctly in four words.
4.Given a set of phonograms and a different initial consonant for
each word, the pupil will orally blend the words by substituting the
first letter for four out of four sets using a different phonogram
for each set.
5.Given three sentences to read, the pupil will read the sentences
and select words which have the o consonant e pattern by underlining
them all correctly.
6.Given a worksheet from a phonics book, the pupil will complete the
worksheet which is composed of six incomplete sentences containing
choices of words spelled with the letters o consonant e pattern, by

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
Before starting the lesson, teacher will review a phonics rule which
was already learned in a previous spelling lesson. Teacher will ask
the pupil to complete a page from a phonics book. The spelling words
will consist of words which are built using phonograms. The assignment
will involve writing in the blank spaces of ten sentences with the
correct spelling word from that lesson and reading an fluency passage
orally and silently. If the pupil is able to complete the page with
seven out of ten sentences correct, I shall introduce the following
lesson. If the pupil does not meet the criterion for accuracy, teacher
shall repeat the lesson involving the review set of phonograms. |
|
|
B. Development-
Teacher will model lesson to leaner first.
The learner will then be allowed to perform activities with the teacher
to show mastering of skill. |
|
|
C. Practice-
1.Teacher will model to student what a fluent readers sound and
looks like.
2.Student will read the passage to teacher. At the end of each passage
teacher will asks student comprehension question to observe student
comprehension level.( daily)
2.Teacher will have student read passage with words no less than 100
words but not exceed 250.
3.Techer and student will play a flashcard game to help student with
fluency and sight words.
|
|
|
D. Independent Practice-
Learners will take home daily a fluency passage both oral and silent
and perform all duties pertaining to each with the guidance of an
adult nightly. |
|
|
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
The only accommodations that will be made is that in the event the
learner does not master the skill in the appropriated timeframe a
revision of the lesson will be taught until it is mastered. |
|
|
F. Checking for understanding-
Teacher will test student at the end of the week with an assessment
similar to the lesson that was taught through out the week for comprehension
and understanding of lesson taught. |
|
|
G. Closure-
Learner will provide teacher with an oral summary of what was learned
at the end of each lesson. |
|
|
7. Evaluation-
|
Teacher will constantly measure learners individual depth of learning
by using mini lesson through out the entire intervention process. |
|
|
8. Teacher Reflection-
|
This intervention process is instructed to help each learner become
more efficient in reading and literacy. By generating these types
of lessons that's tailored for each student this will bring forth
results at a gradual rate. |
