4. Objectives-
1.The student will recognize what is a Sonnet and why is it important in literature.
2. The student will know which are some of the literary figures applied on Sonnets
3. The student will find literary figures in other plays
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Sonnet study guide and Photocopies.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. What is a Shakespearean Sonnet?
2. Do you know what a literary figure is?
3. How can you apply this literary figures to the sonnet?
 

B. Development-

1. The teacher will explain what is a sonnet, what is the structure and how a Shakespeare Sonnet is structured.
2. The teacher will ask the students if they know what a metaphor, a simile and a Symbol is. Afterwards the teacher will explain what they are.
3. The teacher will apply an exercise to see if the literary figures were understood.
 

C. Practice-

1. make the student exercise through examples the literary figures such as metaphors and similes.
2. Read a Sonnet and asses if the student understood the structure of it.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. The student must look for different Sonnets and bring them to class for deeper evaluation.
2. The student must look for further practice, more literary figures or figures of speech.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Quiz on application of the figures of language on a different play.
2. Additional exercising on the notebook.
 

G. Closure-

Explain where and why literary figures are used in the development of poetry
