Point of View: how the story is told by the narrator
Narrator: who is telling the story
Plot: the sequence of events that makes up a story
Conflict: a struggle (internal or external) in making a decision or
between characters |

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-

Students will be able to:
-describe what point of view that a story is being told (1st or 3rd)
-describe two different types of conflict (one external, one internal)
that may occur in a story
-describe the plot of a movie or story that they had recently read
or seen. |

|
A. Introduction-
verbal: "Today we're going to work on several literary ideas, including
Point of View (POV), Plot and Conflict." |
|
|
B. Development-
Ask about different video games, the difference between something
like Halo vs. street fighter (1st person shooter vs. third person
fighting game)
-make sure to point out whose 'eyes' are they seeing things through
in each game
-Tie into the idea of POV
Stories can have several POV's within it (such as Harry Potter where
a different person is telling a story in different chapters)
Plot: like a summary, it tells what happens in the story.
Link to itunes or a movie writeup (explaining what is happening)

Conflict: discuss decisions that a student has to make (tough decisions)
- tie to internal conflict while external is a physical struggle

POV's in games or readings that have been done
Conflicts in games or readings that have been done
(The Eye of Conscience: conflict between the business men and foremen
vs. showing what was happening) |
