3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
|
Students will be able to distinguish between cause and effect. Students
will also be able to identify the cause from a passage when given
the effect, and identify the effect from a passage when given the
cause. |

4. Objectives-
|
Students will show that they understand cause and effect by creating
a story of their own that is full of cause and effect throughout. |
|

5. Materials and Aids-
|
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith
Viorst |
|
|
6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
Teacher will read the story to the class all the way through. The
story if filled with various cause and effect situations, which the
student will later identify. |
|
|
B. Development-
After the story has been read to the students, the class will work
together to create a Tchart that lists some of the cause and effect
situation in the story. |
|
|
C. Practice-
After the story has been read to the students, the class will work
together to create a T-chart that lists some of the cause and effect
situations in the story. |
|
|
D. Independent Practice-
After identifying some of the cause and effect situations from the
story, the students will create their own T-charts, identifying more
cause and effect situations. |
|
|
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
No students needing accommodations. |
|
|
F. Checking for understanding-
To check for understanding, the students will be assigned to create
their own stories about having a bad day. The stories will need to
be full of various cause and effect situations that would result in
a bad day. |
|
|
G. Closure-
Quick review of cause and effect, and small group discussion of
cause and effect |
|
|
7. Evaluation-
|
Teacher will read student stories to ensure that the concept was
understood. |
