1. Topic-
Book Diorama
 
2. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Student will construct a diorama that accurately describes a scene from their book of choice.
2. Student will provide a 3 minute oral presentation about their diorama and overview of the book.

 
4. Objectives-
1. Student will work independently to meet the goal of the assignment
2. Students will work quietly.
3. Students will provide peer support when needed.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Shoe box
magazine clippings
construction paper
glue
scissors
markers
crayons
rulers
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Students will receive assignment both written and orally.
2. Students will bring in their book of choice. (Less than 100 pages)
3. Students are given one week to complete the book.
 

B. Development-

1.Students will see a completed diorama in order to see and meet expectations
2.Students will be provided materials to complete their assignment
3. Directions are reviewed again before lesson begins.
 

C. Practice-

1. Student will draw their diorama before constructing.
2. Students will write a rough draft about their scene
3. scene is explained to educator before constructed.
 

D. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Students with ADHD can make pictures out of modeling clay.
2. Students who struggles with writing can type their presentation on the computer.
3. Students can work in pairs if necessary
4. This project can be done to replace written reports for students who struggle with writing.
5. students with physical impairments that prevent them from using their hands for fine motor skills (cutting/writing) can print pictures from the computer as well as type on the computer.
6. students with hearing impairments can see the expected outcome of the project.
7. Students with visual impairments can make their diorama on a larger scale or work with a partner.
 

E. Checking for understanding-

1. Have students explain assignment.
2. Check pictures for accuracy with what the student is trying to communicate.
 
7. Evaluation-
1. Did Students create accurate dioramas?
2. Did the student provide an accurate assessment of the book?
3. Did the student understand what was expected of them from the directions?
4. Did students need additional coaching to complete project?
