~ Remind students they can not use any words that have been buried.

B. Development-

~ Word choice and a description go hand and hand
~ Often you describe something using the same old boring words.
~( Remind Students HERE)
~ To help you sharpen your descriptive powers, we are going to play a game. In this game you really have to focus because you only have one minute to look at the object.
~ You must be observant!
~ You can not write till the one minute it over.

C. Practice-

Let's practice this. You have one minute to observe this object. Remember do not write!
~ Students observe object, after a minute they write down everything they observed.

~ Activity, repeated four more times with live animals.

~ Students write down their observations.

~ After each animal we generate a list on the board of all the details.

~ Are we using good words??
~ Are we observing details??

D. Independent Practice-

After the four animals have been observed and lists have been generated; students will pick on of the animals. They will write a paragraph describing that animal. They will use good word choice and work on description.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

F. Checking for understanding-

The paragraphs will allow me to see how well students are describing an object. It will also allow me to get an idea of a students word choice.

G. Closure-

If students are not done with their paragraph they are to finish for homework. If this is the case they will need to copy down the list, if not already done.
