|
1.Students will be able to relate vocabulary to background knowledge.
2.The students will be able to complete sentences by developing depth
of meaning.

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1. The teacher will pass out to each student nine-index cards and
have the students write this week's vocabulary words on each card.

B. Development-
1.1) After the index cards are passed out and the words are written
on each card, the teacher will have the students use the cards as
a participation in the first activity.
2.The teacher will speak the first vocabulary word and have the students
hold up the card with that word written on it.
3.The teacher will explain what each word means and have the class
actively participate by holding up each card after the words are being
said.

C. Practice-
1.The teacher will give a sentence using limited individual vocabulary
words and have the students hold up the card with the missing vocabulary
word.
2.The teacher will offer guided practice by allowing students to work
together to come up with the fill in the blanks for the sentences.

D. Independent Practice-
1.The students will work independently on worksheets to practice
filling in the blanks for each sentence.
2.Students will play a game where a word is written on the board and
by raising their hands, they make up a sentence that fits the word.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
1.The class will use visual prompts and written prompts.
2.Students will practice both written and oral use of the words.
3.Students will work both in groups and individually. |

F. Checking for understanding-
1.In large group setting teacher will offer feedback on pronunciation
of words.
2.In small groups teacher will offer feedback on group worksheets.
3. Teacher will offer feedback on individual worksheets and verbal
discussion of proper meaning of specific words. |

|
G. Closure-
1.Entire group question and answers regarding focus words.
2.Teacher will open up discussion about what the students learned
and what they think they might still have difficulties with. |

|
7. Evaluation-
|
1.Initial assessments will be made by observation.
2.After lesson assessments will be by the worksheets done individually
and by the final game participation. |
