Students will plan, draft, and revise a narrative writing prompt
which includes the narrative elements. |

1. match antonyms, synonyms, homophones
2.identify articles (a,an, the) and when to use each.
3.identify key words in an expository writing prompt.
4. Students will independently write acronym TIEFET and orally state
the meaning of the acronym.
5. Students will complete the character, setting, and problem in a
cloze procedure teacher provided prompt. |

|
A. Introduction-
1.Motivate students to play/participate in Cause/Effect Game
2.Create a "Hamburger" graphic organizer with "juicy" detail toppings.
3. Introduce prompt " We can all remember or imagine a time that we
had fun making or building something." Listen to students share examples
of things they have built (lego sets, forts, Christmas presents.
4. Wednesday: "Who remembers the acronym TIEFET".
5. Thursday: Read aloud teachers first attempt to solve her problem
in her story.
6. Friday: Read aloud teachers second attempt to solve her problem
in her story. |

B. Development-
1.Model highlighting the given statement (either cause/effect)and
then going back to look before/after the given statement to find
the unknown.
2. Verbally discuss various pieces of the graphic organizer.
3. model matching antonyms, synonyms, homophones
4. Tuesday: Introduce the concept of TIEFET acronym and explain
definitions.
5. Have students select their own transition in and transition out
phrases from their transition word bank, have them select failure
and an emotion from word bank.
6. Thursday: Students will complete their TIEFET with their first
and second ideas which fail to solve their problem.
7. Complete Thursday if necessary.
