produce a written narrative about a person, event, object, place,
or animal. |

A. Introduction-
1. Welcoming Students
2. Explanation of Today's Agenda |

B. Development-
1. PowerPoint Lesson
2. "The girl went to the store." (Simple, Non-detail oriented example)
3. "The girl with glasses and brown hair went to the grocery store
and bought Florida Navel Oranges, whitewheat bread, and canned cream
corn." (Detail oriented example) |

1. Deconstruction of Detail Example

D. Independent Practice-
1. Students are given an index card with a specific object written
on it, but quietly write 3-5 sentences, providing details, but not
the name of the given object.
2. Students will then share with the class and allow the rest of the
class a chance to guess the object. |

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
Extra help will be provided if/when needed. |
|

F. Checking for understanding-
1. Students will turn in activity sheet with object card.
2. Effort is assessed and feedback will be given on great elaboration
and elaboration that needs work.
3. In the upcoming days, after more practice, a narrative essay will
be assigned to ultimately assess their understanding of elaboration
in detail. |

G. Closure-
1.Bring students back together and discuss what they have learned.
2. Make sure everyone has a basic understanding of elaboration. |
