A. Introduction-

1. Class lecture and explanation.
 

B. Development-

1. Smartboard demonstrations
2. Examples of published essays
 

C. Practice-

1. Create 5 strong thesis sentences.
2. Come up with 3 reasons/explanations describing each thesis.
3. Share examples and suggestions.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Give out 3 essays
2. Underline/write-out the thesis sentence of each.
3. Give reasons/explanations that are mentioned for each paper.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

F. Checking for understanding-

Students will:
1. Create their own thesis sentences.
2. Explain each thesis.
3. Write 1 or 2 essays with all the requirements.
