1. Topic-
Students will be asked to write a five paragraph paper about their special place. "Goin' Someplace Special" has a great quote, "You are somebody, a human being-no better, no worse than anybody else in this world. Gettin' someplace special is not an easy route. But don't study on quittin', just keep walking straight ahead-and you'll make it". Use this quote to get the students thinking about what they want to accomplish and what they will need to do in order to make their dreams come true.

1. The students will have a clear understanding of trails people must go though in order to make their dreams come true.
2. They will have a well thought out plan on what they want to accomplish and the goals they must meet in order to make their dreams come true.
 
4. Objectives-
1. Students will be able to relate Tricia's issues to their own.
2. They will be able to explain that everything doesn't always come easy and they must work hard to achieve their goals.
 
5. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. After reading "Goin' Someplace Special" introduce the students to this quote from the book, "You are somebody, a human being-no better, no worse than anybody else in this world. Gettin' someplace special is not an easy route. But don't study on quittin', just keep walking straight ahead-and you'll make it"
2. Discuss with your class what this means.
 

B. Development-

1. As the teacher explain to them a time when you had to work hard to achieve a goal.
2.Tell them about all the set backs you had while working towards your goal.
 

C. Practice-

1. In a class discussion call on students to give some examples of times when they had to work hard to achieve a goal.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Have the students write a five paragraph paper on a goal they want to work hard to accomplish.
2. They must have a clean beginning, middle, and end.
3. The paper must have a clear goal and a clear reasoning on how they are going to make their goal happen.
 

E. Checking for understanding-

If the students were able to set a realistic goal and outcome.
 

F. Closure-

Have the students share their goals to the class.
 
7. Evaluation-
Students papers were complete with five paragraphs, a clear goal and outcome, and was written following the beginning, middle, and end format.
