4. Objectives-
1. Review and describe the writing process and what it is..
2. Review and describe what pre-writing is. Go over different strategies used during the pre-writing stage.
3. Practice pre-writing strategies with a given topic
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Graphic organizer worksheets
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.review the writing process and the different steps.
2. explain that pre-writing is the first stage and what it is used for.
 

B. Development-

Explain what pre-writing is, why we do it, and show them the different types of pre-writing strategies you can use.
 

C. Practice-

Show them the large examples I made up and practice each one with them.
 

D. Independent Practice-

The kids are going to be split into groups and asked to circulate the room going from station to station. Each station will have a different pre-writing strategy at it for them to practice on their own.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

We will be talking about the pre-writing strategies, going over what they are and practicing them as aa group. They will end the lesson by practicing the strategies on their own.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

I will check for their understanding of whether they understood the information by teacher observation and also work samples collected at the end of the period while they are practicing their strategies.
 

G. Closure-

Review why we do the pre-writng phase first and what stage is next.
 
7. Evaluation-
I will not be testing them on this knowledge, so I will base my assessments on classroom assignments done throughout the unit.
