3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students will use the target words in complete sentences within a coherent piece of writing.
2. Students must completely understand the concept behind the word's label.
3. Students must know how the word fits properly into the structure of various sentences(syntax).
 
4. Objectives-
Students will be able to apply precise meanings using correct grammatical structure while productively using the words in their writing.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
ALIAS Binders, Graphic Organizer from previous day, Writing Check List from Binder, Writing Prompt Sheet, Netbooks
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

Review Graphic Organizer with class.
 

B. Development-

1. Model how to outline essay using graphic organizer.
2. Model how to transfer sentences into a paragraph.
 

C. Practice-

Go over Writing Checklist.
Remind students that they must use 6 target words and have a minimum of 250 words.
 

D. Independent Practice-

In a highly supported writing experience,students use the ideas they organized from the day before to create a cohesive paragraph that demonstrates an understanding of target words.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Emily was absent for the planning of the writing and will need to work on that assignment first.
2. Classroom printer is not working so we will not be able to print today.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

Students will proofread their essay and mark off the checklist to make sure they covered all duties relating to the assignment.
 

G. Closure-

1.Students will save their document on their Netbook to print another day when the printer works.
2. Students will shutdown and return Netbooks according to procedure.
 
7. Evaluation-
1. When printer is functioning again, students will print out their essays for teacher evaluation.
2. 20 points worth of credit for this classwork assignment.
