B. Development-

The teacher will start the power point which will give the definition of audience and purpose. The teacher will tell the students if their definitions were close or if it was incorrect. Students will take notes as the slide show is going on. While they are taking notes, the teacher will be writing a couple of sentences on the board as practice.

C. Practice-

The students will be placed into groups of four. They will have to do the two sentences on the board, then come up with five different sentences as a group. Each person in the group will write down the sentences on a separate sheet of paper, which will be used in another activity.

D. Independent Practice-

After spending 10 minutes in their groups, students will return to their original seats and the teacher will collect their papers. Students will have to identify the audience and purpose in their peers' sentences as their classwork.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

If the students are having a hard time understanding audience and purpose, the teacher will make more sentences and go over them with the entire class.

F. Checking for understanding-

Throughout the lesson, the teacher will informally assess the students through body language, class participation, and peer worksheet answers.

G. Closure-

If time remains, students can start to work on their homework in class, which will be to identify the audience and purpose in each sentence, (if there are any). They are to finish the rest at home and hand it in at the beginning of the next class. They will be encouraged to use the worksheets handed out in class as references.

Next class the teacher will correct the homework and give feedback as to what they need to work on. Also, if there is anyone in the class with Carpal tunnel, they will have a scribe write for them and collect the notes later.

8. Teacher Reflection-
