3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students develop, discuss, and use efficient, accurate, and generalizable methods to add within 100 and subtract multiples of 10.
2. Students think of whole numbers between 10 and 100 in terms of tens and ones.
 
4. Objectives-
Through this activity that builds number sense, students understand the order of the counting numbers and their relative magnitudes.
 
5. Materials and Aids-

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Students will see a "+" and "-" written on the board and will be asked if they know what they mean.
2.The definitions of addition and subtraction will be introduced.
 

B. Development-

1. Students will be shown pictures of things, such as animals and will be asked to add them together or remove a few.
2. An example problem will be shown that says If we have 10 frogs, and we gain another 10 frogs, how many do we now have?
3. Example problem such as above for subtraction.
 

C. Practice-

1. Students will do multiple problems with the teacher that include animals as "numbers" to add or subtract.
2. Students raising hands will show as guide for their understanding.

D. Independent Practice-

1.Students will be given a worksheet that shows a problem in 3 ways: 1) 20-10 2) Twenty take away ten 3) Picture of 20 dogs, students will then cross out or take away 10 dogs from the set of 20 dogs
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Dyslexia student will get a worksheet that shows letters in black, numbers in red, and "+" and "-" signs in blue. This will help the student read the worksheet easier.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Worksheets will be graded and handed back to students.
 

G. Closure-

1. One more review ill be done over their worksheet problems.
