1. The students will learn some simple vocabulary
2.The students will be able to use addition and subtraction when needed
3.The students will learn that math is used in many places like at

4. Objectives-
|
1. The students will learn to use mathematics in places other than
school
2. The students will use a problem-solving model and to analyze the
problem and find the solution

5. Materials and Aids-
|
Writing Utensils
A small calculator |

|
6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1. First, the students will be asked if they know what addition
and subtraction is and they will learn a few math definitions.
2. The students will then be giving a few assignments to complete.
One a problem solving model worksheet
3. Then by the end of this lesson, they will create a booklet to put
their assignments in to use in the future. |

B. Development-
1. At the beginning of the class the students will be shown 2 or
3 examples of addition and subtraction on the board, then explain
to the students what they will be learning
2. After the students become more familiar will adding and subtracting
, then I will use fruits, and other objects used in house to show
them math using real objects. (hands on learning)

|
C. Practice-
1.While the students are doing their assignments I will walk around
the room to see if they need any help
2. Answer questions and help explain if needed
3. Make sure no one is having trouble and if any are help them understand |
|
|
D. Independent Practice-
1. The students will complete 3 assignments and try to 70% or more
correct
2. They will also be given a activity where they will use pictures,
apples, and cards to solve 3 math problems and try to get 70% or more
correct
3. Then the students will complete a 10 question assignment and try
to get 70% or more correct |

|
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
1. The students that are doing good and getting done fast, will
be asked to work on unfinished work or another classes work
2. For the students who are having a hard time with this lesson, they
will do independent work with the teacher like the teacher read the
assignment out loud and show the students a few more examples
3. Depending on if the students still do not understand then will
teacher have the student attend tutoring which they will get more
help and more assignments to get more practice |

F. Checking for understanding-
1. When the students finishes their assignment it will be graded
and depending on how they did I will write " good job" or a note showing
the correct way to do the problem and "almost got it" written in their
paper.
2. The students who need more help or got lower than 70% will get
more help in tutoring
3.If the class is not doing good, then I will a sign more and different
assignments to help the students understand the lesson more |

G. Closure-
1. The students will create a booklet out of construction paper
and glue their finished assignments in it to use in the future
2. The students will be asked what they learn and go over it for review |
|
|
1.Say the class did very well and got a average of 85% overall.
2. The students got good grades and were to complete the 10 questions
in the estimated time |

8. Teacher Reflection-
|
Say the lesson went great just a few students had trouble and I
tutored them and after several meetings they eventually understood
the lesson.
I will go over the lesson and try to find new ways to help the students
learn a lesson better or easier.
Also, I will talk to my colleagues about my lesson and see if they
have any suggestions |
