3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Students will actively engage in using the math application.
2. Students will explore using visual representation for solving math problems.
3. Students will gain knowledge of knowing and using the application.
 
4. Objectives-
1. Students will increase their ability to correctly solve math problems.
2. Students correctly solve 8 of 10 flashcards on at least three sets for each function.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Smartphone with the capability to download applications

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Ask students to identify different math symbols. If needed guide them to think of the four basic functions.
 

B. Development-

1. Explain the process of solving different types of math problems.
2. Explain how to find and use the math application.
3. Show the students how to finish a set of Flashcards and the importance of the summary page.
 

C. Practice-

1. Make sure students can find and open the application.
2. Make sure students know how to find various types of problems.
 

D. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. A student unable to use a phone may have a sheet of math problems and use linking counting cubes.
 

E. Checking for understanding-

1. Students will complete a set of Flashcards and then consult with the teacher.
2. The teacher will record the results from the summary page to track each students progress.
3.Once a week, the last 15 minutes of the session will be used for a short quiz only with numbers so students can demonstrate their level of understanding.
 

F. Closure-

1. Review the four basic math functions regularly so the students create a strong foundation for future learning.
2. Encourage the students to use the application for fun during recess or free time.
 
1. Students are able to independently use the application for basic math problems.
2. Students show the summary page to the teacher each time they finish a set of Flashcards
3. Students increase their number of correct answers and are able to work through all four functions with little to no help.
