1. Topic-
1. Commutative, Associative, and Distributive Properties
2. Writing equations corresponding to given situations.
3. Rewrite expressions to represent quantities in different ways.
4. Translate between verbal expressions and algebraic expressions.

2. Content-
Students will be learning the differences between the Commutative, Distributive, and Associative properties. Students will learn what an equation is and how to write one from a given situation. Students will learn how to rewrite those equations in different ways. Students will learn how to take a verbal expression and make an algebraic expression from it.

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Students can distinguish between the different arithmetic properties.
2. Students can write equations to represent a certain mathematical relationship.
3. Students can rewrite expressions to represent quantities in different ways.
4. Students can create an algebraic expression from a verbal expression.

4. Objectives-
1. Students will do several practice problems and worksheets in class.
2. Students will perform at 70 0r above on given assignments to show competency.
3. Students will be able to perform at 70 or above on an assessment.

5. Materials and Aids-
Odyssey--textbook--practice worksheets

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Students will be given a situation or problem that will be solved throughout the lesson by learning how to create or use an algebraic equation.
2. Odyssey
3.

B. Development-

1. SPI 0606.1.4-56182 (A Puzzling Problem)-M7105-W/S
2. SPI 0606.3.3-MA61091 (Simplify Expressions and write an equation) M7110,M7111
3. SPI 0606.3.4-3.5-M7115,M7116,M7118,M7119

Teacher will work several examples for the students and students will practice by working in groups and showing their work on the board.

C. Practice-

1. Students will have several worksheets to complete in class-some alone and some in groups.
2. Students will have a game where they compete for the correct answers to problems given.
3. Students will have shoulder partners to complete certain assignments given in class.

D. Independent Practice-

1. Students will do a max of 5 problems by themselves in class for me to evaluate who needs extra practice and who has learned the objective.
2. Quizzes on each objective once students have completed a few days of practice with the new objective.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Students will work in groups.
2. Students will have their shoulder partner that they go to for help.
3. Students will receive individual help from Assitant and myself as we deem necessary.

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Classwork
2. Quizzes
3. Thumbs up/ Thumbs down

G. Closure-

Restate objective and get students to write two sentences explaining what they think the objective means or is.

7. Evaluation-
Students will have to show 70 or better on quizzes and classwork.
