Subject: Algebra
1. Topic-
Standards:Patterns, Function, and Algebra 9.4.F Solve and graph linear equations and inequalities.
9.4.B Identify and classify functions as linear or nonlinear, and contrast their properties using tables, graphs, or equations.
Number, Number Sense and Operations: 9.1.B Identify subsets of the real number system.

2. Content-
two-step equations, multi-step equations, combining like terms, distributive property, variable, identity, contradiction, equation

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Students will solve equations with a variable than contain more than one operation.
2. Students will solve equations with one variable that contain variables on both sides.
3. Review number sense and build students basic math skills to help students become proficient in number skills so they know when to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

4. Objectives-
1.Solve two-step equations.
2.Solve equations with variables on both sides.
3.Practice Basic number skills by adding/subtracting fractions, and adding/subtracting decimals.

5. Materials and Aids-
Chalk, Chalk Board, Holt Algebra I Textbook, Holt Algebra Workbook, pencil, paper, Students' bell work notebooks

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Two-step equations were introduced on the test as extra credit on the Solving Equations Test.
2. Go over previous work in warn up of solving equations by add/subtract, and mult/divide.
3. Give notes on two-step equations and stress that it is opposite the order of operations (PEMDAS). Also, make a comparison to the titanic that you are the variable and whoever is with you the variable, you get ride of last.
3.

B. Development-

1. Comparison to the Titanic.
2. What you do to one side of the equation you always do to the other side.
3. Do example problems from the Holt Algebra I Textbook - Section 2-3 (Solving Two-step Equations).
4. Show a PowerPoint of two-step equations.

C. Practice-

1. Monday - Page 96 Problems 1-6
2. Tuesday - No School due To Election Day
3. Wednesday - Finish notes on Solving two-step equations from Holt textbook. Students will continue to work on pages 96-97 Problems 1-66.
4. Thursday - Students will play matho and solve two-step equations.
5. Friday - There will be a 50 point quiz to assess the students' understanding of two-step equations.

D. Independent Practice-

1.Online quiz through engrade.
2.Wednesday night. Workbook page 11 - Solving 2-step equations.
3. Thursday night - Solving 2-step equations practice A&C

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Reduced Load. Students must complete page 96 1-30, 47-49.
2.Calculators.
3.Paired up with stronger student, and tutoring from teacher and volunteer.

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Ask students to solve problem orally.
2.Workbook, classwork, and ability to show the work.
3.quiz on Friday and test next week.
4.Students will receive an exit pass to solve an equation.

G. Closure-

1.Who are we trying to get by themselves? Who are you in the problem?
2.What you do to one side of the equation, you must always do to the other side of the equation.

7. Evaluation-
1.Oral evaluation during warm up.
2.50 point quiz and completed classwork and homework.
