6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
Ask students who likes pizza? How fair would it be if me or pick
someone got to eat half a pie and you all have to split the other
half?
SAY: When we take a whole and break it into pieces that is called
a fraction. Today we will be comparing fractions. |
|
|
B. Development-
1.Write down 1/2, ask someone to say the fraction. Point to the
top number ask: what do we call this part of the fraction?
Point to the bottom number and ask what do we call this part of the
fraction. Mention I always think of "down" to remember denominator.
2. Review symbols <, >, =
3. Model the problem 1/2>1/4 |

1.Write another problem down
2.Call on students to complete problem as a whole group
3. Ask if students have any questions or need more examples. |

Distribute handouts for students to work alone or individually |
