3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Two students will be more comfortable with fractions in general.
2. Students will be able to find the equivalent fraction for any given problem.

3. Students will be able to reduce a given fraction to its lowest terms.
 
4. Objectives-
1. Playing "go fish" to find equivalent fractions in the game.
2. Showing understanding by quickly figuring the correct answer.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Homemade Flashcards using index cards.
1 practice worksheet with reducing fractions in chart form.
1 quiz of finding the missing number to find the equivalent fractions.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Remind students of what they have learned so far and indicate today is a review and short quiz day.
2. Show examples on the board of how to reduce fractions.
 

B. Development-

1. Give examples of equivalent fractions on the board.
2. Discuss how equivalent fractions can help in everyday situations.
Review math vocabulary as it relates to fractions.
 

C. Practice-

1.Practice with the board together examples of equivalent fractions.
2. Review reducing fractions as the opposite of equivalent fractions by dividing concepts.
 

D. Independent Practice-

Students will work on their equivalent fraction worksheet in chart form while I check for understanding and provide help if need be.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Provide one on one assistance as needed.

2. Play "go fish" for equivalent fractions for them to gain confidence and motivation.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

Have students complete fill in the missing number in equivalent fractions.
 

G. Closure-

1.Check for any additional questions about reducing or finding the equivalent fractions.

2. Give the two students an equal number of Flashcards to take home to practice and extra index cards to make their own Flashcards and vocabulary review if they wish.
