2. Investigate fraction circles
3. Understand how to break down fraction into simple form.

5. Materials and Aids-
|
Pencils, Paper, Construction paper, mathematical lego block used
for counting, and Scrap paper for working out fractions. |

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1.Dividing fractions
2. Reducing fractions
3. Converting fractions into decimals

|
B. Development-
1. Using board to work out fraction problems
2. Using visual aids as examples to class.
3. Group work: students working with other students in understanding
the concept of fractions. |

C. Practice-
1. Have students make fractions from rectangles by folding into
the different sizes.
2. Have students come up in teams and look at fractions. Find a specific
attribute to use as a fraction. Example: What is the fraction for
girls and boys?
3. Discuss how fractions are equal parts and can be sets or dividing
an object.
4. Make a number line of the fractions showing smallest to largest.

D. Independent Practice-
1. Journal on what they have discovered about fractions.
2. Label the pieces and compare the pieces.
3. Practice worksheets that will be graded on the understanding of
fractions.
4. Have parents and students find opportunities to use fractions in
the house (e.g., sharing food with siblings, or measuring using fractions).

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
1. Continue with other activities dealing with fractions. Dividing
up food items and using other objects to find the fraction.

8. Teacher Reflection-
|
Each student has demonstrated his or her knowledge of fractions
and how to solve them. This concept is to make sure that each student's
understanding of fractions is mastered. Overall, this is a helpful
stepping stone for 3rd Grade Math. |
