1. Topic-
Geometry Manipulative Scategories

2. Content-
To have a fun activity to teach my students the important concepts of geometry.

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. To learn important information of geometric shapes.
2. To learn the different names and shapes of geometric figures.
3. To make a fun activity that students want to play and learn with.

4. Objectives-
A fun structured team game, where the students come together and try to help each other learn.

5. Materials and Aids-
Numerous three dimensional geometrical shapes, list of names of geometric shapes, 2-4 team members.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

This game is played in the same fashion as scategories.
1. Group of 2-4 players.
2. Player 1 picks a three dimensional geometric shape and describes the look, shape, vertices, angles to player 2.
3. Player 2 has one minute to guess the name of the geometric shape.
4. The player/team that guesses the most correct answers wins the game.

B. Development-

1. The player that is giving the clues gives clues to as how many sides, faces, angles, vertices the geometric figure has

C. Practice-

Each group of team members just plays to learn and have fun.

D. Independent Practice-

While playing this assignments students knowledge of geometric shapes should increase.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

This can also be played with the whole class, with the names of the geometric shapes listed on the board. The teacher would have the three dimensional shape, showing it to the students, giving them facts of the figure. The student with the most correct answers, wins!

F. Checking for understanding-

Making sure students understand the concepts of the majority of the geometric shapes.

G. Closure-

At the end making sure the students do benefit and learn more from this activity than teaching geometry in a regular classroom setting.

7. Evaluation-
Have a geometric test at the end of the week, while the game is still fresh in there minds. The test can consist of matching the names to the figures.

8. Teacher Reflection-
I believe this game was a great success. The students had a fun time learning the geometric shapes and the statistics that go along with the shapes. The students certainly have a greater understanding of geometric shapes.
