3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. The student will solve problems involving angle measurements
and area.
2.The student will expand their knowledge of numbers to include negative
numbers and the coordinate plane. |
4. Objectives-
1. I can solve geometry and coordinate plane math problems.
2. I can annotate a math problem so that I can understand what the
problem is asking me. |
5. Materials and Aids-
Smart Board
Bell Ringer
Review Sheets
Exit Slip |

6. Procedures/Methods-
A. Introduction-
The students will have a bell ringer - Explore-type question to
warm up their thinking. Each student will be responsible for individual
learning. Each group will be responsible for having a shared answer
that the group feels is correct. The bell ringer is designed to warm
up thinking and review skills. |
B. Development-
Teachers will model expectations for this lesson. Students will
have a chance to work independently and in pairs. |
C. Practice-
Each student will be given 5 - 6 problems as a review of the material
to work independently. Students will have approximately 15 - 20 minutes
to annotate and solve the problems. Teachers will monitor for meaning
and clarify student misconceptions. Students will be allowed to use
their math journals and books for information, if needed. |
D. Independent Practice-
Students will pair up with a designated partner. The partner will
have the correct answers to the problems. Students will teach one
another the problems and then check their answers. |
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
The independent worksheets are differentiated with the types and
number of problems given. The pairs of students are intentional. |
F. Checking for understanding-
Teachers will monitor pair work and assess student ability based
on both written problems and verbalized discussion. |
G. Closure-
Exit Slip: Students will complete a given problem to complete on
their individual white board. |
