1. Topic-

Graphs

2. Content-
Cartesian Plane
Intercepts
Discreet and continuous
Variables

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
Learners should be able to use graphs to:

1. Find positions especially in Maps
2. Give /represents information/reports graphically
3. Collect, analyzer, organize critically evaluate numerical data.
4. Understand the world as a set of related systems by recognizing
that problem- solving contexts do not exist in isolation

4. Objectives-
At the end of the lesson , learners should be able to:
1. Draw graphs
2. Find the intercepts with the axes
3. Distinguish between discreet and continuous graphs

5. Materials and Aids-
Workbooks
Rulers
Pencils
Erasers
Enlarged drawing of a set of labeled axes

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Facilitator distribute marked scripts of the test and a
discussion around how they have performed.
2. Learners then, share their experiences with others

B. Development-

1. Facilitator gives learners an opportunity to discuss
terms discreet line and continuous line
2. Learners then give feedback from their various groups
about terms. Page 193
3. Example on page 194 is discussed in detailed

C. Practice-

1. Intercepts with the axes on page 194 discussed in
detail
2. Facilitator explain the process of substitution from
page 194 and also demonstrate how to substitute.
3. Example on page 195 discussed in detailed and drawing
of graph on page 195 discussed
4. Drawing a straight line graph given an equation on
page 195

D. Independent Practice-

1. Learners are given a table to complete: y =3x + 1 in
groups to draw a graph on a labeled axes using rulers
and pencils.
2. Feedback from various groups volunteer by drawing
graphs on the chalkboard

F. Checking for understanding-

Check for understanding page 197 was discussed in detail
i.e. Multimedia Facilitation tips

G. Closure-

Learners are given exercise 1 on page 200 to do in
groups and provide feedback
In the form of a summary page 199 was discussed
i.e. Fact File.

7. Evaluation-
Individually learners were given y = x + 2 ,to
determine the following:
1. x and y intercepts
2. Draw the graph
3. Determine whether the graph is discreet or continuous

8. Teacher Reflection-

Page 199 discus and highlight some important points
