3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
HOW CAN WE CONSTRUCT AND INTERPRET GRAPHS ON THE LIVING ENVIRONMENT REGENTS EXAM?

1. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE BASIC PARTS OF A LINE GRAPH (AND BAR GRAPH.
2. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE NUMERICAL DATA FROM A DATA TABLE AND CONSTRUCT A GRAPH.
3. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO CREATE AN APPROPRIATE SCALE FOR THE AXES OF THEIR GRAPHS.
4. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO ANALYZE THEIR CONSTRUCTED GRAPHS TO LOOK FOR TRENDS AND PATTERS BETWEEN VARIABLES THAT SHOW DEFINITE RELATIONSHIPS.
5. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THEIR GRAPHS BASED ON UPON THE TRENDS AND PATTERNS THEY DETECT.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

STUDENTS WILL BE PRESENTED WITH A
 

B. Practice-

STUDENTS WILL BE DIVIDED INTO GROUPS AND WILL BE GIVEN LIVING ENVIRONMENT REGENTS GRAPHING PROBLEMS. EACH GROUP WILL BE GIVEN 10 MINUTES TO CONSTRUCT THEIR GRAPHS. 5-7 MINUTES WILL BE USED BETWEEN EACH GRAPHING SESSION TO GO OVER RESULTS AND ANSWER QUESTIONS. AFTER THE ACTIVITY, THE STUDENT WILL BE WORKING ON THEIR INDIVIDUAL GRAPHING PACKETS UNTIL THE END OF CLASS.
 

C. Independent Practice-

STUDENTS WILL BE PRESENTED WITH A PACKET WHERE THEY WILL HAVE TO DRAW GRAPHS AND ANSWER QUESTIONS RELATED TO GRAPHING. THIS PACKET IS DIRECTLY DESIGNED TO GIVE STUDENTS MORE PRACTICE WITH CREATING AND UNDERSTANDING GRAPHS THAT THEY WILL MOST LIKELY SEE ON THE REGENTS EXAM.

SUMMARIZE THE KEY FEATURES OF LE REGENTS GRAPHING QUESTIONS.
1)READ THE DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA OR THE EXPERIMENT BEFORE GRAPHING ANY DATA FOUND IN THE DATA TABLES.
2)FOLLOW ALL THE WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN IN THE TEST RELATED TO CONSTRUCTING THE GRAPH.\
3)CREATE AN APPROPRIATE SCALE

7. Evaluation-
STUDENTS WILL TURN IN THEIR GRAPHING RESULTS FROM THE GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL GRAPHING ACTIVITIES. THEY WILL BE GRADED FOR ACCURACY AND CORRECT INTERPRETATIONS.
