Sing two's math facts into the melody and rhythm of "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands".
 
2. Content-
1.Sing the melody of the song "He's got the whole world in his hands" with new words to learn two's math multiplication facts.
2.Discuss what children are to sing with each picture held up.
3.Discuss with the children everytime they see a number picture to shake their castanets quickly one time
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-

1.To sing alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
2.Performing on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
3.Learn the two's multiplication facts 1-12
 
4. Objectives-
1.Indentifiy the changing pitches.
2.Be able to use the castanets instrument.
3.Sing with good quality tone.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
1.Pitures of a head, world, numbers 1-12, X (multiplication sign),and = (equals sign).
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Have children sit on floor in rows.
2.Show children pictures of what we will be singing about.
3.Announce "Today we will sing to learn or two's multiplication facts"
 

B. Development-

1.Show and explain to children the pictures which are their "sign" on what to say when held up.
2. Show children how to hold and shake a castanet.
 

C. Practice-

1.Hum the melody and sing the lines of the main chorus line.
2.Preform the song first with a couple volunteers to demonstrate what we will be doing.
3.Practice son with new words, pictures and instrument.
 

D. Independent Practice-

Have the class perform the entire song with motions with the instrument.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Do children understand to shake instrument when numbers are sang in song.
 

G. Closure-

Have children as a group sing, and shake instrument.
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Do pitches match up with the new words?
2.Does the class perform with correct pitches, rhythms and instrument movements?
3.Does class perform the song with good tone quality?
 
8. Teacher Reflection-
The 3rd graders are being introduced to the 2's multiplication facts. Putting these facts in a form of a song that most every child knows, will help them memorized these facts. When have the children shake the castanet at every number, it will put a extra "bang" to help them remember each math fact. Along with learning the math, they will also be learning to synchronize with a beat and rhythm.
