1. Topic-
Multiplication

2. Content-
Represent multiplication problems in three different ways.
*factor
*product
*repeated addition
*array
*sets

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.S/W model multiplication using and array.
2.S/W model multiplication using equal size sets.
3.S/W model multiplication as repeated addition.

4. Objectives-
1. SWBAT explain three different ways to model the solution to the same multiplication problem, arriving at the same correct answer each time.

5. Materials and Aids-
Unifix cubes(teacher and student)
Video recorder (Flip)
White board & markers

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

Real world story problem, how many sodas to buy if they come in 6-packs and we have 25 kids in class?

B. Development-

1.Learn zillion video groups
2.Learn zillion video array
3.Learn zillion video repeated addition

C. Practice-

1.Work in small groups to develop skills with unifix cubes
2.Draw array, model equal size groups with objects
3.model addition with cubes

D. Independent Practice-

1.Model 3x6 in three different ways.
2.Write the multiplication problem for the array/repeated addition/ groups of objects shown.
3. Joe used to following array to model 3x5. He said the answer was 16. Was he correct?
what would you do differently?

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Model and master only groups
2.Model and master arrays
3.Model and master repeated addition

F. Checking for understanding-

1.student work submitted electronically
Model 4x7 in three different ways

G. Closure-

1.You have learned how to model multiplication in three different ways How can you use this ability to solve the soda problem I presented to you in the beginning of the lesson? What other problem could you solve?

7. Evaluation-
1.Student model multiplication in three different ways and gets the same correct answer each time.
2.Student can determine the correct multiplication problem to go with a given array.
3. Student can generate situations where this skill will solve a real world problem.
