1. Topic-
Math review on basic math topics to confirm mastery of skills and focus on areas in need of improvement.
 
Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
Students will be able to answer a variety of math problems regarding basic skills including; time, money, addition, subtraction, multiplication and fractions.
 
Objectives-
1. Students will be able to use resources to show their work and solve math problems as needed.
2. Students will demonstrate positive sportsmanship throughout the Jeopardy! game.
3. Students will use appropriate tone of voice.
4. Students will be respectful of their classmates; remaining quite when it is another student's turn and not calling out answers.
 
Materials and Aids-
Jeopardy! PowerPoint
Promethean Board

Small dry erase boards and markers
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

The students will list several topics we have learned in math this year - taking time to talk about favorites to allow student interest to build.
 

B. Development-

The teacher will introduce the Jeopardy! game, explain how the game will be played, and review lesson objectives and behavioral objectives using "I can" statements.
 

C. Practice-

Students will complete the Jeopardy! PowerPoint to review math skills. As needed, they will use small white boards to show their work.
The game will be played by inviting a student to come up to the board, picking a question, and answering it. Students will take turns picking and answering their questions.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Students will use a teacher created mat and window clings to match money values to the correct money image.
2. Students will use a teacher created mat and window clings to create the correct clock face to match a given time
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. In addition to the questions being written on the screen, they will also be read aloud.
2. Questions will be rephrased as needed for clarification.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Teacher created checklist used throughout the game to record knowledge and understanding
2. Teacher will observe students as they work with the mats and window clings, offering help as needed.

G. Closure-

1. Teacher will provide the students with ownership by allowing them to explain what they just completed in the lesson, if anything new was learned, or if they feel there are areas in math in which they would like to continue to work to maintain mastery.
 
7. Evaluation-
Teacher will meet with each student individually to discuss the checklist and how they did with the lesson. Student and teacher will then decide the progress made by the student and how to continue development toward mastery of all skills.
 
8. Teacher Reflection-
1. Did I provide appropriate feedback throughout the lesson?
2. Were my objectives obtainable / reached?
3. Did the students feel elements of success and ownership of their learning?
