1. Topic-
Probability

2. Content-
*Discuss independent and dependent events
*Find probabilities of these events.

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Know the difference
2.Find probability after replacing and not replacing

4. Objectives-
1.Have everyone actively engaged.
2.Have fun while working in groups.
3.Be able to ask questions if needed.

5. Materials and Aids-
Paper Bag with different colored chips
Decks of cards
answer sheet with questions

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.The students will be getting into their groups from the previous couple of days. In these groups they will review their vocabulary words.

B. Development-

The students and I will do a quick review from the day before on finding probabilities of simple events such as rolling a 6 on a die.

C. Practice-

1.In their groups they will perform experiments using bags full of different colored chips and decks of cards. These will not be at the same time. They will do experiments where they do not replace and then when they do replace. The goal is for the students to find the probabilities of independent and dependent events and see that, that is what they are.

D. Independent Practice-

The students will then perform a quick assessment on the overhead of finding an independent and a dependent probability. This will be discussed and then turned in to check.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.The way in which the groups are organized.
2. Those that need extra time on activities can have that.

F. Checking for understanding-

1.I will be walking around during the activity and giving feedback while the students are experimenting.
2.The overhead assignment will be a way for me to assess what they learned during the lesson.

G. Closure-

We will go over our results for the activity, review our vocabulary and sum up what we learned about independent and dependent events.

7. Evaluation-
After seeing how the students do with the activity and the overhead assignment, I will decide whether or not they need more, less or if we can move on. More likely than not we will continue with more of the same but with adding another level to it.
