2. Content-
K and L1: Basic instruments (piano, violin, drumset...) and pronouns (I, you, he, she...).
L2: Groups of instruments (string, percussion) and advanced instruments (maracas, tambourine...), adverbs (slowly, quickly...).
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
The goal of this theme is to introduce basic vocabulary and sentence patterns that have to do with musical instruments. In Kindy and Level 1 we will focus on learning the basic vocabulary and sentence patterns, answering the questions like: Can you play the...? What is he playing? Level 2 students will be introduced to some extended vocabulary and sentence patterns, like: Can you play..? How do you like to play...?
 
4. Objectives-
The objective of this theme is to have students be comfortable when using the vocabulary and sentence patterns. This is a somewhat advanced theme, and students should try to feel accustomed to the vocabulary which will help them explain basic music instruments that they might come in contact with. L2 students will review L1 and expand their vocabulary. Sentence patterns will be introduced, aimed at using pronouns, adjectives and adverbs. We will watch videos that showcase different instruments.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

Explore students' prior knowledge of instruments. Review with Level 2. Show pictures and videos of instruments.
 

B. Development-

Introduce pronouns for K and Level 1. Adverbs and adjectives for Level 2. Practice using pronouns and writing sentences. Keep reviewing instruments.
 

C. Practice-

Practice speaking using sentence patterns and writing using dictation and work books.
 

D. Independent Practice-

None
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Spend more time with students who fall behind, if there is time.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

End of the theme quiz.
 

G. Closure-
