1. Students will learn what a vocal run is.
2. Students will learn how do do their own vocal runs.
4. Objectives-
1. Students will be able to tell their partner what a vocal run is.
2. Students will be able to demonstrate a vocal run of their own skill level and ability to a partner.
5. Materials and Aids-
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Hello Class
Teacher will start by singing "Hello Class" by using a vocal run. This will grab their slightly confused attention.
2. What is a vocal run?
Teacher will tell class about the topic of the lesson and the objectives they they will have to meet. Teacher will relate to students by using artists they know as examples.

B. Development-

1. Teacher will explain to class that the way he addressed them was indeed a vocal run and will demonstrate to students the run that they will have to sing.
2. Breaking down the run note by note, the teacher will teach it to the students. The students will repeat the run in segments by rote and eventually put the whole thing together.

C. Practice-

1.Teacher will now tell the students to get into groups and discuss what a vocal run is and demonstrate the run to each other. This will give the teacher time to evaluate individual students while keeping others occupied.

D. Independent Practice-

1. Homework will be an assignment of the students creating their own simple vocal run of their own skill level.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. The extra assignment for advanced students is to look up a popular artist and learn a vocal run that is used in their song to demonstrate to the class at the next meeting.

F. Checking for understanding-

1. During group activity, teacher will walk around and check the student's understanding and ability.

G. Closure-

1. Teacher will tell class that they are all just as good as Beyonce and that they should be proud of themselves.
2. At this time, homework will be assigned and the next teacher will present.
7. Evaluation-
1. Teacher will walk around during partner activity to make sure students are successfully completing runs.
2. Teacher will ask random students what a vocal run is to make sure they are aware.
