A. Introduction-

1.why the backhand is useful
2.learning cues
 

B. Development-

1.show proper placement of hands and racket
2.demonstrate proper footwork
3.demonstrate a proper swing
 

C. Practice-

1.instructor on one side, students on the other side of court
2.instructor serves a ball to one player who returns the ball using a backhand swing.
3.each person gets to go through 3 times.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.divide into partners/pairs
2.play
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.go around to observe each game
2.give feedback on good improvement and and feedback on ways to improve
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.have students explain back what they've learned about the backhand
2.how is it different than the forehand?
