B. Development-
1. Model traveling, chasing, fleeing, and dodging.
2.Explain rules.
3.Designate boundaries for one large area, and a smaller area in the
center.
4. Select 1 student out of every five to be a shepherd ("it"). The
remaining students are sheep.
5. Sheep begin in the "pen" (small area in the center), and shepherds
begin on perimeter of the large outside area.
C. Practice-
Description:
1. On signal, sheep attempt to escape from the pen to the outside
perimeter of the larger area.
2. Shepherds try to "herd" sheep by tagging them before they reach
the perimeter.
3. Tagged sheep must return to the pen, do five jumping jacks, before
trying to escape the pen again.
4. Sheep reaching the outside perimeter score one point. Before returning
to the pen for another attempt at escaping, they must walk/ jog the
perimeter of the large activity area. |
Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
Increase the activity area size. A larger area makes herding sheep
more challenging. A smaller area makes escaping the pen more challenging.
Change out shepherds every 2-3 minutes. |
Checking for understanding-
Teachers observation as assessment and oral feedback. |
Closure-
Ask the students a question:
Did you like being a sheep or a shepherd?
Then Line up.
7. Evaluation-
Teacher observation assessment. |
