1. Topic-
Soccer Skills/Passing
 
Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Students will have an appreciation for soccer.
2.Students will demonstrate basic soccer skills.
3. Students will recite vocabulary associated with soccer (i.e. trapping, dribbling, passing)
 
Objectives-
Students will make accurate passes and controlled traps with a partner.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Soccer ball for every 2 students, cones.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

Instructor will introduce passing as a skill needed to play soccer.
 

B. Development-

1.Instructor will explain the proper way to execute a pass in soccer.
2.Instructor will demonstrate the proper way to execute a soccer pass using one of the students.
 

C. Practice-

1.Students will be asked to find a partner.
2.each partner will have a ball to share.
3.Students will be given time to practice passing the ball to each other.
 

D. Independent Practice-

Once students have shown mastery of the proper soccer pass, the instructor will give them several challenges involving the pass
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Students who have completely mastered the pass will be given the option to increase the distance between them. Students who need more practice may be asked to decrease the distance between them and their partners.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

Are the students:
1. placing their non-kicking foot next to the ball before they pass?
2.making contact with the middle of the ball?
3.following through after they pass the ball?
 

G. Closure-

1. Students will be asked to recite the proper cues for passing the soccer ball.
 
7. Evaluation-
1. Teacher monitoring
2. Students reciting the proper cues.
 
8. Teacher Reflection-
-Did at least 80 percent of the students understand the directions (80-20 rule)?
- Did the students enjoy the lesson/ activities?
-Was most of the behavior positive(not a lot of redirecting)?
