Subject: Volleyball Passing
1. Topic-
Today we will warm up by stretching and running in place. Then we learn how to correctly pass a volleyball.

2. Content-
Students will break up into groups of six. One student will toss the ball with an underhand toss to the five other students one at a time. The other five students will be in a straight line facing the ball tosser. The students are now ready to show a proper platform, foot stance, and correct body form. The ball will be tossed easily with a slight arch to one of the five students who will pass the ball back with their arms back to the tosser. Repeat to each student two times then tosser becomes a passer and a new tosser will rotate for next round.

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.hand eye coordination
2.movement of feet
3.control of arms
The goal is to have students break into pairs and pass the volleyball 5x's then 10x's using proper passing technique without the ball touching the ground.

4. Objectives-
1.students keep their hands in proper position
2.arms are straight
3.legs and body are bent correctly

5. Materials and Aids-
volleyballs

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Show students proper hand position
2.Show students proper arm position
3.Show students proper leg and body position, i.e. passing dance

B. Development-

1.Teacher shows underhand toss technique
2.Teacher demonstrates how hands are positioned
3.Teacher positions body in proper volleyball stance

C. Practice-

1.Teacher tosses volleyball to a student to show how the exercise will look.
2.Students repeat what the teacher demonstrated.
3.Student tosses ball to each passer until they show they have gotten proper technique then students pair off to pass ball back and forth.

D. Independent Practice-

1.Students can pass ball to themselves several times in a row.
2.Students can pass ball off a wall to themselves consecutively.
3.Students can have anyone toss them a volleyball and they can pass ball to the tosser without the tosser having to move at a greater and greater distance apart.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. One student tosses the ball while the other student passes. Students stay with a tosser and one passer.
2.Student tosses ball to passer at a shorter distance.
3.Teacher can be the tosser to both students.

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Teacher asks students to show proper hand position
2.Teacher can visually see proper body stance
3.Students are able to pass the ball to their partner

G. Closure-

1.Students can pass a ball more than 5x's without it hitting the ground and be able to pass to each other at greater distances.
2.Students are able to switch partners and still pass the ball more than 5x's without the ball hitting the ground and at greater distances from each other.

7. Evaluation-
1.Teacher will be able to toss the ball over a volleyball net and students will be able to pass the ball back over the net to the teacher.
2.Students will be able to pass the volleyball over the net and control the ball so the teacher can catch it with minimal moving.
