1. Topic-
The Game of Softball
 
2. Content-
Learning the rules and regulations of a legalized softball game. Then putting what you learned into action during a live contest.
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.The learner will know the rules of softball
2.The learner will gain experience in an in game situation
 
4. Objectives-
1.Demonstrate how to take a proper batting stance and how to hold the bat.
2.Demonstrate where to go with the ball when it is hit to you.
3.Demonstrate proper base running techniques.
4. Demonstrate properly catch a pop up and field a ground ball.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Softball field. Softball Bats. Softball gloves and Softballs.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

The instructor went over some basic information about the game. Told the class the rules, what the purpose of the game was, and reminded them that this is a friendly game and not to get too feisty. Next the instructor took the class from inside the gym and brought them outside. He broke the teams up into two teams of nine. He divided the materials up between the two teams and he began the game as the pitcher for both teams.
 

B. Development-

The instructor didn't have to do much demonstrating being that these were high school student with a knowledge of the game and some of them had previous playing experience.
 

C. Practice-

The instructor began pitching for team 1 and the game went on. As more female batters came up he guided, directed and instructed them on the proper way to hold the bat and how to swing to make contact with the ball.
 

D. Independent Practice-

One of the females was having a hard time with making contact with the ball, so when she came up to bat in her second try the instructor pulled her aside and began to demonstrate how to properly swing and hold the bat. The majority of the student didn't have any trouble making the game competitive and they played a fair game.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

The accommodations the instructor made was by mixing up males with females he was able to make the game fair so that the males wouldn't be able to team up against the females and win. This mixture got females more active in class and made them participate even when they may not have wanted. He gave participation point for those who played and took point away for those that didn't.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

After the game was over the instructor collected the materials and just had regular conversation with the students about their performance during the game. He gave feedback from his perspective on how they did. And the students responded with their opinions.
 

G. Closure-

As the student were walking back to the gym to change clothes and prepare for the rest of their day the instructor yelled and asked the group "So who's gonna win next time" Everyone replied "my team" with confidence.
 
7. Evaluation-
After the students changed clothes the instructor asked the girl that was having trouble batting to give him come pointer on what to do while at the plate.
 
8. Teacher Reflection-
When talking to the instructor after class he seemed pleased with the classed attitude towards the game and was going to plan for this friendly battle to be a weekly event. He also talking about trying to develop a Softball Challenge between different class periods he teaches during the day at the end of the school year.
