Subject: Fruits Of the Spirit
1. Topic-
Students will be able to identify The Fruit of the Spirit. Jesus as the vine.
 
2. Content-
Galatians 5:22-23; John 15:4-5 (RSV)
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students will be able to identify the Fruits of the Spirit.
2.Students will be able to see the connection of Jesus as the vine to which we bear good fruit.
3.Students will be able to see how the other 8 fruits are characteristics of Love.
 
4. Objectives-
As a result of the lesson: 1.Students will be able to see how allowing God to abide in them they can possess the fruits of the spirit. (Cognitive)
2.Students will be able to associate the fruit we eat is connected to a vine, a bush or a tree in order to grow,and apart from the tree the growth stops and the fruit dies, as our connection to Jesus Christ the true vine.(Visual Spatial)
3.Students will be able to visualize ways in which they can see the Fruits of Gods Spirit operating in themselves. (Intrapersonal)
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Fruit apples, oranges,bananas, grapes, cherries, kiwi, lemon, peach, and pineapple. Poster Board.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.How does fruit grow? (Name each fruit and how it grows, vine, tree, bush etc.)
2.What happens to fruit when it is plucked from the vine? (it rots, it becomes bad, we eat it etc.)
3.Who knows how we as human can bear good fruit?
 

B. Development-

1.Students will be given a piece of real fruit that will represent a different fruit of the spirit.
2.Students will see how the fruit when removed from the vine stops growing and begins to decay. Blemishes will be emphasized on the fruit to prove this theory.
3.Students will see how the longer the fruit is on the vine the larger it will grow. (by showing them different fruit that are the same yet some has grown larger than others).
 

C. Practice-

1.Students will discuss the fruit they received at the beginning of class and how can they use it in their lives.
2.Students will discuss how they can use one other fruit in their life.
3.Students will discuss how they can show others the fruits of the spirit to help them on their Christian journey.
 

Checking for understanding-

Students will answer the following questions:
1.How many fruits of the spirit are their?
2.What are the fruits of the spirit?
3.Who is the vine that we are connected to as Christians that allows us to produce good fruit?
 

Closure-

Students will be asked if they have any questions.
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Students should be ale to name the nine fruits of the spirit (love, patience, kindness, gentleness, long-suffering, faithfulness,goodness, self-control, peace).
2. Students should be able to explain that Jesus is the vine in which we as Christians bear good fruit.
3. Students will be able to explain that without the vine the fruit we bear will be bad.
