3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Students will be able to cite where they found research information.
2. Students will be able to grasp the concept of plagiarism and the importance of citation.
3. Students will be able to better organize research findings without the worry of plagiarism.
 
4. Objectives-
Students will create citations for books they have used for researching their Native American projects. Each student will be required to cite three books that they used in their research, and include a works cited page as well as cite the source in the paper.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Books used in research, Color-code handout, pencil, paper, MLA citation worksheet
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

Students will be introduced to the importance of citing information used in research, using a research paper and works cited page. Students will highlight all areas in the sample research paper that uses citations, and match up the citations to the work cited page.
Students will also collect necessary information throughout their research, like publication date, author, publication name, etc. for use when making their works cited page throughout their research.
 

B. Development-

The teacher will hand out a color coded guide that will help the students place pertinent information in its correct area. There will be a precise guide handed out to help guide the students in correct placement of the information.
 

C. Practice-

Students will be required to cite three books used in their research, and fill in a "Cite Sheet" to checked over and corrected throughout their research.
 

D. Independent Practice-

Their "Cite Sheet" will be monitored by the teacher throughout the research time, and will also show progress made.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Accommodations will be provided if necessary, but most students should be able to participate in research collecting, organizing and keeping track of important information pertaining to grammar. If a student is struggling, they will be provided with a fill-in-the-blank type work sheet that can better help them organize.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

Students will be able to check with the teacher and/or aid if any questions arise.
 

G. Closure-

Students will have to provide a final works cited sheet along with the final draft of their research paper.
 
7. Evaluation-
The final research paper works cited page will be a good measurement of understanding, and students will be required to book cite sources when necessary in the future.
