Grade: 5th
circulatory system Subject: Science
Title-
What is the circulatory system?

Background-
The circulatory system, the organs involved, their function and how they are important to the survival of the human body.

artery, calillary,vein,valve,

Expected Outcome Of This Lesson Plan-
1.To know the organs that make up the circulatory system.
2.To understand how the circulatory system is important to the human body.
3.To know that the human body is made up of systems with structures and functions that are related

Teacher Objectives-
1.Students will be able to name the parts of the circulatory system in class with 90% accuracy when asked to do so.
2.Students will explain correctly the functions of the circulatory system 100% of the times asked.
3. Students will label a model of the circulatyory system with 100% accuracy in class when given a drawing of the system unlabeled.

Resources-
Text, Drawings of the system, colored pencils, interactive board.

Teaching Methods-

1. Lesson Introduction-

1.teacher will explain the function of the circulatory system to the students.

2.show a brief video http://www.neok12.com/php/watch.php?v=zX760b6c717d557e72515c02&t=Circulatory-System ..on neok12

2. Lesson Progression-

1.Students will read or follow along as pages 63-69 are read answering questions as the reading progresses

3. Guided Practice-

1.Students will identify parts of the circulastory system as they are pointed out by the teacher and expliain what the function of each part is.
2.students will use models of the system to complete a diagram of the circulatory system.

4. Student Practice-

1.students will complete an independent worksheet of question drawn from the lesson.
2.students will complete indepentently another copy of the circulatory system

5. Learner Accommodations-

1.Trinity, Marcheas and Rudy will be given extra help and guidence from the Teaching Assistant as needed.

6. Assessment-

1.Teacher will corrcet and evaluate the diagrams and worksheets giving feedback and reteaching as needed

7. Lesson Closure-

1.Students will explian the circulatory system to the teacher and their fellow classmates during a followup class
2.Students will discuss how the system works and why it is important to the human body.

Measuring Student Progress-
1.Students will be tested on their knowledge of the circulatory system during class.
