1. Topic-
Clouds
 
2. Content-
The students of the 5th Grade Class will be observing the clouds that have appeared in the sky on the date of February 16th, 2011. They will be observing the clouds through a relatively large window in the Science Classroom. After this, they will draw a picture of the clouds they have seen and write a paragraph on the type of cloud and how it affects weather.
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.To determine type of clouds
2.To draw picture of clouds
3.To write paragraph of clouds.
 
4. Objectives-
1.To teach students about clouds.
2.To show importance of weather.
3.To keep class disciplined during the period in which we are learning about clouds.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Paper(Drawing and Writing)
Colored Pencils
Markers
5th Grade Science Paper
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.I will bring students four at a time to observe the clouds.
2.After they have all seen clouds, paper and drawing materials will be handed out to them.
3. When they are finished with their drawing, they will report to me where I will them give them the assignment to write paragraph about clouds.
 

B. Development-

1.Students will gain knowledge of Clouds.
2.I will also explain to them how clouds affect the weather.
3.They will also gain the ability of knowing how to properly write an paragraph.
 

C. Practice-

1. Students only be given one sheet of drawing paper each. This is because they need to learn that the more paper you use, the more trees are dying.
2.Students will be able to look in their science books and they will be able to ask me any question they have about clouds.
3.The main objective of this activity is for them to learn something about Science.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Students will be working individually on this assignment so I will be able to better track their progress.
2.Independent Work lets the teacher better evaluate the child's growth in the subject.
3.If they should finish the assignments before the class period is done,they will not be allowed to talk for the reason that other children are still working and need to concentrate.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.This lesson will take place in Ms. St Yves classroom.
2. This period will begin at 10:00am and end at 10:45am.
3.Students will sit in their normal assigned seats but if they refuse to cooperate with my instruction, they will thus be moved to a different seat.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.I will determine if every student has grasped the concept by asking a series of questions.
2.I will also attempt to have students present their picture and thoroughly explain it.
 

G. Closure-

When "Switcheroo Day" is done, I will turn in all of the work that the students have done in my class to ms. St. Yves.
 
7. Evaluation-
I believe that this lesson not only will show students the importance of clouds, but I hope that they will also learn to appreciate weather while still having fun.
