Objectives-
|
1. Students will learn that the Earth has four internal layers:
crust, mantle, inner core, and outer core.
2. Student's will learn that the structures of the internal layers
are different. These differences cause physical phenomena that we
can observe on Earth's surface.
3. Student's will learn the different types of stress that rocks are
subject to. These stresses cause changes in rock both above and below
the surface. |

Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
Graphic Organizer Brainstorming what we know about Earth's Structure
|
|
|
B. Development-
|
C. Practice-
Create paper Earth showing the 4 layers of the Earth.
((The Earth has 4 layers. They are the Crust, Mantle, Outer Core,
and Inner Core. You will receive 4 different colors of construction
paper. Red for inner core, Orange for outer core, Yellow for mantle,
and Brown for crust. The student must cut out each of the 4 sections
of the Earth and paste them together in the order they belong. Once
the pieces are pasted together, label them correctly. After this is
completed share with a partner your Earth and explain them to each
other.Add other information that you learned about the Earth in your
diagram.)) |
|
|
D. Independent Practice-
Read over the passage about Earth Structure and after you read the
passage, answer the 11 questions that follow.
|
|
|
Checking for understanding-
After the assignment is completed, the students will swap papers
with each other and we will go over the correct answers.
