6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

This Science lesson is a three part lesson that involves art, writing, and reading. Pre assessment will begin by asking students what he/she knows about the seasons. Then I will introduce all students to our book (different seasons) and read it. I will then ask the students questions for collaboration, and point out important concepts. When I finish reading the book, I will ask different review questions to see if all students were able to comprehend, students will then infer, or predict as to what can happen with these types of seasons.

B. Development-

After the teacher models the different kinds of seasons when reading the book, she will then give students a magazine illustrating, and classifying different types of seasons

C. Practice-

Teacher will write a season on the promethean board. Student's will then write what can be associated with that season (clothing, holidays, weather). Teacher will then write the answers given on the board by using a concept Map. Teacher will help all students by illustrating the differences between each season. When teacher finishes illustrating, she will have Students work in groups for guidance, and write complete sentences about that specific season. This will be repeated for each season.

D. Independent Practice-

Student's will be given a worksheet with the different seasons, and each student will work independently by putting each season in order according to the month.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Ells, special needs, and students with different learning styles will be accommodated according to his/her needs. Ells will have material in both Spanish and English. Special needs student's will be given extra time along with teacher assistance to work on the assignment. Students with leaning disabilities will also be accommodated by helping him/her according to his/her styles.

F. Checking for understanding-

Students will write on his/her journals indicating his/her favorite seasons, and telling the teacher why it's their favorite season. Next, the student will write their least favorite, and why. Teacher will give student a suggestion: imagine, what was your worst, and best season during the year?

G. Closure-

Students will turn his/her worksheets in, and then sit on the rug as a group for group discussion about the seasons. The teacher will have all students close their eyes, and she will be characterizing a season while the students guess what season she is describing. Students will then name the differences and similarities between all four.

7. Evaluation-
Students worksheets will be informally assessed through observation, and students comprehension through the use of his/her vocabulary words. Students will then be divided into two 8 groups of 4. Each group will be given construction paper. Each student in the group is responsible for his/her own season. The students will use magazines or original drawing to make a collage of the season chosen by them. Students may collaborate while working, when finished, he/she can share their collage with each other.

8. Teacher Reflection-
Next year, I will extend the lesson by two-weeks, by incorporating different holidays.
