2. The student will demonstrate a model of the nine planets.

4. Objectives-
1. Given a model of the solar system the students will be able to name the nine planets with 100% accuracy.
2. Given a saying to remember the planets, the students will be able to name the planets in order with a 100% accuracy.
3. Given a project to model of the nine planets, the student will be able to say the planets in order with a 100% accuracy.

5. Materials and Aids-
Solar System worksheet
smart board
nine Styrofoam balls
paint
sticks
solar system model
line paper

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.I will show the students a model of the solar system.
2. I will ask who can name the nine different planets.
3.Then I will inform them that the students will be building their own model of the solar system with a partner.

B. Development-

1.I will give the students a saying to remember the planets in order "My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas".
2. I will call upon students who raise their hands to fill in the correct planet next to the first letter at the smart board.
3. I will have each student write down the saying on a piece of line paper.

C. Practice-

1.I will walk around the room as every student is writing down the saying along with the planets.
2. At this time they can ask me any questions they may have.
3. Then I will have them turn to their right and say the planets in order to their peer.

D. Independent Practice-

1.I will pair up the students in groups of three to work on the solar system project.
2. They can paint the planets any color they would like as long as the planets are put in order.
3. If the students do not finish during class they may bring it home and finish it for homework.
4. The project is due the next day.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. For the students who may not be able to see the model up close, I will pass it around the room.
2. For the students who need extra help I will assist during practice time rather then calling them out individually.
3. I will also hand out a model of the solar system on a worksheet.

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Before the class leaves to go to lunch I will hand them an exit card.
2. On the exit card the students will have to name the planets in order.
3. To check for understanding, all of the students should have the plants in order by the saying to help them.
4. They will hand me the card as they exit the room.

G. Closure-

1. I will again show them the model of my solar system and what their project should look like for completion tomorrow.
2. The students as a whole will name all planets in order for a review of the nine planets.

7. Evaluation-
