3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Upon completion of this course the student will understand the process of remineralization.
2.Upon completion of this course the student will understand the importance of salvia and the role it plays in remineralization.
3.Upon completion in this course the student will be able to identify the products available for remineralization.
 
4. Objectives-
1.Upon completion of the course the student will be able to define remineralization with at least 80% accuracy.
2.Upon completion of this course the student will be able to modify a patients home care to help with remineralization with at least 80% accuracy.
3.Upon completion of this course the student will be able to differentiate the different products available for remineralization with at least 80% accuracy.
4. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to explain why saliva is important and the PH that is needed for remineralization with at least 80% accuracy.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Present a case study example on a patient who may ask what the white spots are on their teeth? What may cause this or what may you recommend. (2 min)
2.What is the definition of remineraltization? (1 min)
3.
 

B. Development-

1.Use power point to present information on remineralization products.
2.Students will follow allow taking notes with sheet provided.
3.Each of the following will be introduced
1) The importance of Saliva (5 min)
2)Recaldent (CPP-ACP)3(min)
3)Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP) (2 min)
4)Novamin (2 min)
5)Sensitat (2 min)
 

C. Practice-

1.Students will use saliva test strips to test their own PH (2 min)
2.They will break into pairs and discuss their findings (2)
 

D. Independent Practice-

Review on their own the products available to help with remineralization and help educate the patient.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

If there is time review other case studies on the difference remineralization products that help.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

Instructor will ask if there is questions.
 

G. Closure-

1.Review the products available for remineralization
2.The importance of Saliva and what PH is needed
