This lesson plan will demonstrate how the planets revolve around
the sun in their own orbits. It will show how planets farther away
will orbit the sun more slowly than closer planets would. It will
also give the students a song which will help them remember factual
information about the planets |

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
|
Students will learn, or have their prior knowledge about planets
reinforced, when considering how the planets orbit the sun. |
|
|
4. Objectives-
|
1.The students will be able to name the planets from farthest away
from the sun to the closest planet with 100% accuracy
2. The students will be able to answer questions about orbits at 85
% accuracy
3. The students will be able to answer questions about individual
planets with 85 % accuracy. |

|
5. Materials and Aids-
|
1 hula hoop
9 piece of strings
1 pair of scissors
1 picture of each individual planets
1 guitar |

|
6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1. The students will be focuses on the center of the room.
2. The teacher will play the song about the planets to the class.
|
|
|
B. Development-
1.The teacher will cut 9 different lengths of string from a roll
of string
2. The teacher will tie the individual strings around the hoop one
by one.
3. The teacher will tie the opposite end of the rope to a picture
of the planet it will represent.
4. The student will ask for nine volunteers for the class and will
assign them a planet
5. The teacher will explain to the students hula hoop is the sun and
the planets are all tied to the hula hoop which represent gravity.
6. The teacher will rotate the hoop and the strings will tighten.
The closer strings will become tight and move earlier than the longer
strings will

Closure-
1. The teacher will ask the students to return to their seats.
2. The teacher will reiterate what the lesson showed to the students.
3. The teacher will asked the students what they learned and if they
had any questions |

7. Evaluation-
|
The students will take a quick test based on the material that was
conveyed to them throughout the lesson.
